Welcome to Campaign 1805

A new tabletop game focused on the Napoleonic era of combat.

This website is dedicated to combat in the time period of 1796-1815, or the Napoleonic Era. On this site we will present the game Campaign 1805, a brief history of combat in that time period, a summery of where tabletop gaming came from, and the current mathematical conversion being used to develop the game and its scale.

I hope you enjoy this page as it should not only be very informative, but also offer a great game you can play with other Napoleonic era enthusiasts.

My Connection

I first discovered this time period from cinema. I forget the movie but, I remember watching those men lineup and shoot at each other. I thought to myself, what a dumb tactic. Why would they just stand there and exchange point blank fire? So I decided to do a little research and here we are. They used these formations because muskets are very inaccurate and it was way better to fire a whole bunch of shots at one target so you actually hit something. Next, the ability to stand, not flinch and to maintain order under such distress was so devastating to opponents that you could route an enemy without taking a shot. I learned that this time period was all about morale and I love it. I dedicate this game to the love of this style of combat.
